Lexington Road Crews Ready For Inclement Weather

With rain turning to snow about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Lexington’s Division of Streets and Roads halted leaf collection and prepared to move into snow removal operations.

Road temperatures were still about 34 degrees, said Albert Miller, acting director of Streets and Roads. If temperatures remain above freezing this afternoon, the snow should not present major problems for the 5 p.m. rush hour, he said.

Salt trucks were moving into the areas they service early Thursday afternoon and preparing to salt bridges and overpasses, which tend to freeze earlier than roadways.
