Lexington protesters rally for peace in Gaza
Despite a cease fire in Gaza, a group people here in Lexington rallied together about the tragic killings of Palestinian people.
They say they also want to educate people about the challenges the people in Gaza will continue to face as they try to rebuild.
Even though the war is what seems like a world away, advocates say they’re still fighting to remind people of the importance of this issue.
Some of these advocates say there’s family of theirs in Palestine where the violence has taken place and it’s not only a worry overseas but say it’s a concern here in Lexington as well as many people don’t know much about what’s going on.
Hannah Isa one of the advocates told ABC 36 News that’s the importance of today’s rally to showcase that silence is not golden.
“For us its about letting people know that we wont stand silent in the face of injustice we are going to make our voices heard and we do not stand by the violence and murder of innocent civilians,” says Isa.
Dozens rallied at the protest tonight at the Courthouse Plaza, with two goals in mind, to educate and advocate for peace.
