LPD: Suspect turned himself in, then ran from police
UPDATE: LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Lexington Police say they were called to the Fayette County Detention Center Wednesday because robbery suspect, Shane Kennedy, wanted to turn himself in.
Police say Kenendy changed his mind and ran from the detention center. Police say they found him on the railroad tracks off of Waco Drive. After a foot chase, Kennedy surrendered and was taken into custody, according to investigators.
Kennedy is currently lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center with the following charges:
- Robbery 1st degree (6 counts)
- Robbery 2nd degree
- Theft by deception (2 counts)
- Theft by unlawful Taking
- Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Lexington Police Department is searching for a man wanted for multiple thefts, including two armed robberies that happened early Friday morning.
Police say 31-year-old Shane Kennedy was arrested by on March 7 for burglary and auto theft. After being released on bond, investigators believe it’s possible Kennedy is connected to more than a half-dozen other incidents.
The most recent robberies occurred Friday March 30, around 3 a.m. at the Shell gas station at Nicholasville Road and Southland Drive, and at 7:30 a.m. at the Shell station at Winchester Road and Thunderstick Drive.
