Lexington Police Officer Shoots And Kills Dog During Attack

Lexington Police said an officer was forced to use his gun when he was attacked by a dog.
Officers said they were called to a disorder at a home in the 800 block of Whitney Avenue just before 12 a.m. on Tuesday.
When police arrived a German Shepherd weighing around 100 pounds ran out of the home and at the officer, according to police.
The officer backed away from the dog but the dog charged again.
Police said that’s when the dog bit the officer’s leg, breaking skin.
The officer got to the other end of the yard but the dog charged him a third time and police said the officer was forced to shoot the animal.
The officer did not need medical attention ,according to police.
They said no charges will be filed against the dog’s owner.
