Lexington Police Dept. participating in ‘Click It or Ticket’ event

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department is increasing it efforts to get drivers to buckle up.

The departments says officers will be conducting a Click-it or Ticket enforcement event Friday, May 31 from 9 p.m. – 12 a..m at the intersection of Main Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Officers who spot drivers and passengers who are not wearing a seat belt or children who are not properly restrained, will be ticketed.

The department says the event is aimed at increasing seat belt usage ahead of the busy summer travel season.

In 2018, the Lexington Police Department says officers issued 3,320 citations for seat belt violations, a 22.6% increase over the previous year.
