Lexington police cruiser involved in hit-and-run

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An alarm call leaves an officer with a banged-up cruiser Tuesday night.

Lexington police say an officer responded to the call at around 11:30 p.m. at 464 West New Circle Road when he saw a car with a flat tire pull up and park in the lot.

They say, as he approached the car, the driver backed up, hit the cruiser and drove off.

Officers searched the area to try and locate the driver.

The car abandoned on Martin Court about an hour later. They say the car was reported stolen back on September 17th.

Police say the cruiser had only minor damage and the officer was not injured.

They believe the driver did not intentionally hit the cruiser.

Police are still searching for the driver.
