Lexington police arrest 27 people in 3-day shoplifting blitz

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 27 people were arrested and eight people cited as a result of a “shoplifting blitz” investigation.

The police department, along with members of the Kentucky Organized Retail Crime Association (KYORCA), focused in the areas of the Hamburg shopping center, Richmond Road, and the New Circle Road corridor.

Over the course of three days, law enforcement detectives worked undercover with loss prevention to target shoplifting and theft suspects at retail establishments, according to police.

Charges include Theft by Unlawful Taking (TBUT), Burglary and several suspects, according to police, had outstanding warrants.

Stores in the areas investigated participated in partnership with law enforcement. Those were:

Hamburg- Kohl’s, Meijer, Lowe’s, Marshall’s, Wal-Mart, Target, Old Navy, Victoria Secret, Ross

Richmond Road- Kroger, Wal-Mart, Lowe’s

New Circle Road Corridor- Bryan Station Kroger, North Park Wal-Mart

According to police, $4,934.99 in stolen property was recovered during the blitz.
