Lexington PD: Man Tries to Steal Gas Can, Gets Punched by Homeowner

A homeowner on Walnut Creek Drive told Lexington Police he was sitting in his living room Wednesday morning when he saw another man walk straight into his garage.

Officers said the homeowner caught the suspect taking a gas can from his garage shortly after 8:30. The attempted burglar dropped the gas can once he spotted the homeowner, according to police.

The homeowner told investigators he caught up with the suspect and punched him in the face. He said he also noticed a red Chevy Blazer waiting for the man at a nearby street corner.

Police are currently looking for the suspect and the vehicle.
