Lexington Opera House announces 2021-2022 season

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Broadway is back at the Lexington Opera House.

Director of Performing Arts Luanne Franklin announced the Opera House’s 2021-2022 season Thursday night.

The lineup features five Broadway shows and two Variety Live shows.

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”- November 12-14, 2021.

“An Officer and a Gentleman”- January 28-30, 2022

“Waitress”- February 11-13, 2022

“An American in Paris” March 11-13, 2022

“Hairspray”- April 11-13, 2022

Variety Live shows:

“Concert With the Stars”- January 8, 2022

“Stomp”- February 24-25, 2022

A ticket credit will be applied to your season ticket renewal for the two shows cancelled in 2022.

Five show season packages begin at $205.

The Opera House says it will operate at full capacity, but will keep some pandemic measures, including digital ticketing and sanitizer stations.


LEXINGTON, Ky. – Broadway Live is back!  The 2021-22 Season of Broadway Live and Variety Live shows were revealed on Thursday night through a virtual broadcast. It was announced last night that audiences will enjoy five Broadway shows and two Variety Live events in person as the historic Lexington Opera House returns to full capacity, public performances this Fall:  ROALD DAHL’S CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORYAN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMANWAITRESS, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, HAIRSPRAY, CONCERT WITH THE STARS AND STOMP.

“We are thrilled to announce the new 2021-22 season and welcome patrons back to the Opera House,” said Luanne Franklin, Director of Performing Arts.  “We are excited to present five sensational Broadway titles, along with two Variety Live shows for the new season. From classics to comedies, appealing to everyone from grandparents to grandkids—and all ages in between — we have a Broadway season to lift your spirits and bring you joy!”

The combined 2021-22 Broadway Live and Variety Live seven-show lineup features five national touring Broadway musicals, one cabaret-style concert and a highly acclaimed Broadway percussive performance.

Season tickets for the Broadway Live series are available by phone at (859) 233-3535 or www.lexingtonoperahouse.com  Season tickets start at $205 per subscription, with monthly payment plans available.  Season ticket holders always receive the best purchase options, saving up to 53% off the single ticket prices to the best seat selection. Lowest season ticket prices are locked in until September 8th.  Single Broadway Live tickets go on sale on September 13.

Season ticket holders also have the chance to buy additional tickets to Broadway Live shows at a 10% discount and in advance of the general public on-sale date.  In addition, season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to Variety Live presentations.

The Broadway Live series will present five performances of each title and all shows are scheduled to take place over the weekends, including three evenings and two matinees.  Show times are Friday and Saturday evening performances at 7:30pm.  The Sunday evening performance is at 6:30pm.  Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 1:00pm.  Season ticket prices range from $205-$385.  Orders for Season Tickets for the 2021-22 Broadway Season will begin today at 12pm at the Lexington Center Ticket Office or online www.lexingtonoperahouse.com

Throughout the shutdown, shows and venues have been formulating plans to welcome audiences back responsibly. The Lexington Opera House will follow guidelines recommended by state and local health officials to plan for the safe return of audience members, performers and staff.  Protocols will be posted on the Opera House website and ticket holders will receive a message with any updated requirements prior to each event.
