LEXINGTON, Ky.  (WTVQ) – The City of Lexington has a new Junior Fire Chief.

10-year old Katie Bowden, a fifth grade student at Meadowthorpe Elementary School, was given the honorary title at an official ceremony Monday morning.

Bowden was also presented with an official badge to accompany her specially-sized Lexington Fire Department uniform.

She will serve as a dignitary during the upcoming year, which will include local TV appearances, tours of businesses and landmarks across Fayette County during Fire Prevention Week.
