Lexington Mayor Jim Gray running for Congress

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Mayor Jim Gray has announced he is running to challenge Representative Andy Barr in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District.

In a press release Tuesday, Gray said he will spend this week on a congressional tour of the district. He says he will be visiting all nineteen counties in the Sixth District to “hear voters’ concerns about their representation in Washington and their suggestions for how to solve the challenges they are facing.”

Geoff Young, Retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel Amy McGrath and State Senator Reggie Thomas have all announced they are running in the primary. They are also looking to challenge Barr, who is a 3rd-term Republican Congressman.

Gray’s tour started Tuesday morning in Berea and he will be holding events throughout the day.
