Lexington Man Raises Money For An Art Classroom On Wheels

He said his dad struggled with an alcohol and drug addiction and was not always around.

He was like many kids now growing up in Lexington, where it is estimated nearly 1 in 4 children are living at or below the poverty line.

Nadzam is now trying to help kids in lower-income neighborhoods by raising money for an art classroom on wheels.

Nadzam wants to take the art to the kids. He said, "One of the big problems with children in poverty is a lack of access to resources."

His non-profit bought a trailer, which is now awaiting renovations in Indiana.

The renovations will turn the trailer into an art classroom on wheels, which they called the On The Move Art Studio.

Nadzam said, "So many studies show time and time again what art does to engage and inspire a child."

The group also wants to mentor the at-risk kids and provide them with adult role models through the art program.

The trailer renovations are expected to cost $8,000.

To help raise the money, the group has started a Kickstarter campaign online, where donors can pledge money to the cause.

More than $2,500 has already been pledged to the On The Move Art Studio, but the entire $8,000 goal must be met for the group to get the money.

If the goal is not reached ,the donors will not be charged.

If the goal is reached by the end of November, Nadzam hopes to have the program up and running by next June.
