Lexington man charged after hitting cemetery fence, damaging headstones

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington man is facing multiple charges after hitting a fence at Cove Haven Cemetery on Saturday.

Police say 52-year-old Calvin Connor had been involved in a hit-and-run incident earlier, and was driving with his hood up when he hit the fence at the cemetery.  Officers say Connor was not in any kind of pursuit when the incident happened.

Along with damaging the wrough-iron fence at the cemetery, a few headstones were also damaged.

Connor was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, expired registration, no proof of insurance, and criminal mischief.

The manager of the cemetery estimates it will cost around $3,000 to fix the fence. She’s looking for volunteers from the community to help with materials and repairs: ruthan@blueone.net.
