Lexington Little League coach named Lance Little League Coach of the Year for baseball

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Lance) – A Lexington native has been selected as Lance’s 2021 Little League Coach of the Year for Baseball.

Coach John Burnett began his baseball career playing with Eastern Little League (ELL) in Ecton Park in Lexington in 1981. Almost 30 years later, he came back to ELL to coach his oldest son, Nathan, in tee-ball.

“Coach Burnett embodies the spirit of Little League baseball through his competitive and genuine spirit. Whether games were going well or not, Coach Burnett perseveres with an
approach that his players can relate to. He never gives up on a player, an out, an inning, or a game and always coaches a game like it is his last — with no regret,” said fellow coaches regarding Coach Burnett’s attitude on and off the field.

Coach Burnett and his wife Stacey have been married for the last 19 years and have three boys – Nathan, Owen and Wright.
