Lexington Kiwanis Club to host annual Chili/Spaghetti Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Kiwanis Club will be hosting its annual fundraising Chili/Spaghetti Day from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 at Cavalry Baptist Church in downtown Lexington.

This is the 20th year for the event, which raises funds for underprivileged children in the Lexington, the Bluegrass area and beyond.

“It is a great community event for March.  Soup will not only warm up your body on a cold day, but choosing to support our event will also warm your heart, as profits support kids’ causes in the community,” says Club President Matt Burlew.  “Since our event is downtown, many corporate offices will buy tickets in advance and give them to their staff to use that day.  We are also hopeful that since the Sweet Sixteen tournament is downtown, some fans will join us. For $8 a person, it makes a great meal. Some people love to stop in on their way home and buy to-go soup dinners for their family to eat in that night.”

The chili and/or spaghetti include homemade skillet cornbread and a drink for $8.  Desserts will be sold for an additional $2.

For more information about the event, how to get involved or how to donate, call Edye Bryant at (859) 576-1683,  visit the group’s FaceBook page at Kiwanis Club of Lexington, Kentucky or go to their website at lexingtonkiwanis.portalbuzz.com.
