Lexington implements phase one of heat plan today
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The City of Lexington has once again activated Phase One of its Heat Plan, effective Tuesday, July 9, to help protect the homeless from the extreme heat.
As part of the plan, Lextran will provide free rides to cooling stations located at community centers across the city. Outreach teams will also be distributing bottled water throughout the community to ensure those in need stay hydrated.
The city’s efforts aim to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures, particularly for the vulnerable homeless population. This initiative underscores Lexington’s commitment to the well-being and safety of all its residents during periods of extreme weather.
