Lexington implements Heat Plan Phase I

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – With hotter temperatures on the horizon, the city of Lexington is implementing Phase One of its Heat Plan from Tuesday through Friday to help those who may be unhoused stay safe from the heat.
The Heat Plan goes into effect when the heat index is expected to reach 95 degrees or more. As part of the plan, the following measures will be taken:
- LexTran is offering free rides to cooling stations at community centers across the city.
- Outreach teams are distributing bottled water throughout the community.
Cooling stations will be available at the following community centers:
- Dunbar
- Kenwick
- Castlewood
- Tates Creek
