Lexington Hospital Looks For Money For Walking Therapy System

A 10-week trial of an advanced walking therapy system is underway at the Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, and the facility gets to put it to use, free of charge.

According to the G-EO System Advanced web site, the system adds a wide variety of gait patterns to simulated floor walking and allows the therapist to select and program a customized combination of exercises or treatments for each individual patient.

So far, Cardinal Hill officials say the results of the G-EO System Advanced have been overwhelmingly positive. Patients, caregivers and therapists have commented that other options for gait training "pale in comparison."

However, due to a funding shortfall, the facility will only be able to keep the device until May 9, when the trial ends.
