Lexington family displaced after home catches fire
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A family is finding a new place to live after their home was damaged by fire Thursday.
It happened around 9:45 a.m. on Dry Branch Road in Lexington.
According to the fire department, two occupants and a dog were safely out of the house when firefighters arrived on scene.
Firefighters say they got there just minutes after the call was put in, and extinguished the fire.
There were working smoke detectors that wen toff in the house, according to the fire department.
When firefighters pulled the water heater from the house, they say it was on fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but firefighters believe it could have originated with the water heater.
The man who lives in the home told firefighters they were renting.
The Red Cross was called but firefighters say the family will not be taking any assistance from them, as they have already found somewhere else to live.
