Lexington Health Department collected its millionth needle
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The health department in Lexington has collected its millionth needle for the harm reduction program.
The program is designed to stop the spread of hepatitis C and HIV.
According to health officials since it began in 2014 it has helped to keep a million needles off the streets, sidewalks and out of parks.
Health officials say the person who brought in the milestone needle, told them that he had hepatitis C in the past and did not want to get it again.
