Lexington First Responders Planning Relief Trip in Tennessee

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – First responders in Lexington are collecting supplies to help with relief efforts in the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area.

The First Responders Missional Community is requesting gift cards, rakes, shovels, tree cutting equipment, work gloves, safety glasses, eye drops, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, air filter masks, first aid items, heavy-duty trash bags, and non-perishable food items.  Donations can be dropped off at any Lexington Police facility.

Items will be collected December 15th, and the group will travel to Gatlinburg on the 16th.

The group plans to help first responders who have been working around the clock to battle the wildfires, not able to take time off to check on the fire damage on their own homes.

There is an informational meeting scheduled for December 12th at 6:00 p.m. for anyone interested in going on the trip. Everyone is encouraged to come; even non-first responders but volunteers must be 18. The meeting will be held at West Sector roll call at 1795 Old Frankfort Pike.
