Lexington Community Corrections’ new K9 is “Insta-famous”
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Community Corrections has announced it has added a new employee to help sniff out illegal drugs and increase safety at the local jail.
The facility says K9 Ozzy, a four-year-old Sable Belgium Malinois, was donated by the Lexington Police K9 Unit last September.
He is paired with his full-time handler, Community Corrections Officer Cody Tingle, to help detect illegal narcotics in and around Lexington’s Community Corrections facility.
According to Community Corrections, they are the state’s only nationally-certified narcotics unit within a corrections facility.
K9 Ozzy has also become “Insta-famous,” according to the department, with more than 1,100 followers on his Instagram account.
