Lexington church showcases special display for LGBTQ community

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington church is showing its support for the LGBTQ community.

For the start of pride month, Saint Paul Catholic Church in Lexington put out a sign saying: “Come out and come in.”

The church also set up a display with doors painted in the rainbow colors of the pride flag.

“The catechism of the catholic church teachers that we are to treat our gay sisters and brothers with respect passion and sensitivity and every sign of unjust discrimination should be avoided. To our LGBTQ members out of the community we are saying, come back to us there’s a place for you here,” says Stan “J.R” Zerkowski, Director of Catholic LGBT ministry Lexington.

Leaders and members of the church also plan to be at this year’s pride festival.
