Lexington Adds More Life-Saving Equipment For Heart Attack Victims

Imagine a machine that can perform C-P-R for you.

It’s not just an idea.  It’s a reality.

Just ask the Lexington Fire Department.

Firefighters already had a device called the ‘LUCAS 2,’ that’s used on heart attack patients.  The machine provide steady, accurate chest compressions, freeing paramedics to attend to other patient needs.

The device has proven to be so effective, Lexington just bought five more, with money from a federal grant.

The device is taken on every medical call involving a suspected heart attack.

In the United States, a man or woman suffers a heart attack every 20-seconds.  Without timely critical care, 50-percent of those persons die before they get to the hospital.
