Lexington abortion clinic ‘taking a timeout’ until hearing
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – A Lexington clinic has put off performing abortions until a judge rules on a request from Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin’s administration to close the clinic.
The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1LTH1lR ) reports that Fayette Circuit Judge Ernesto Scorsone is expected to rule on Tuesday on the state’s request for a temporary injunction against the EMW Women’s Clinic.
The Bevin administration’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services filed a lawsuit last week accusing the clinic of operating without a license.
The lawsuit also says the clinic does not have a required transfer agreement with a local ambulance service.
Attorney Scott White, who is representing the clinic, says the clinic is not conceding that its services are improper, but rather are merely “taking a timeout” to wait for the ruling.
