Lewis County road closed after mudslide

LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lewis County road is closed after a mudslide Wednesday morning.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, mud and trees are covering the road after a slide on KY 59 in Vanceburg.
Officials tell us crews are bringing in excavators but it will take time to clear and repair the road.
According to KYTC, KY 59 (Vanceburg Hill) at mile marker 22 just south of the AA Highway intersection at Vanceburg in Lewis County will be closed until further notice.
KYTC is asking drivers to seek alternate routes.
To stay on state highways you can use KY 344, KY 989, etc., to reconnect to the AA Highway.
For those connecting between Morehead and Vanceburg, consider using KY 32 through Flemingsburg or detour to the AA Highway at Grayson, according to KYTC.
