Coroner identifies victim in deadly house fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Coroner has identified 62 year old Barcy Madinger as the woman who was killed in a house fire on Flint Ridge Drive.

Madinger’s dog who was nearby her also died in the fire, according to the coroner.

Firefighters were called to the home off just after 4 a.m. Thursday.

The home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The Fayette County Coroner says Madinger died from smoke inhalation.

Crews tell ABC 36 , parts of the home collapsed making it difficult to search the home.

Neighbor, Josh Hughes says he ran to the scene and saw Madinger’s husband on the ground in front of the home.

ABC 36 was told that he escaped the burning home through a second floor window by using a ladder.

The man was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
