LPD: Suspect nearly runs over officer during stop

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Police are searching for a man they say nearly ran over an officer during a traffic stop early Friday morning.

According to police, they pulled over a car at the Circle K gas station on Richmond Road just before 2 o’clock Friday morning.

They say when they ran the plates, the car came back stolen.

Police say the driver then tried to drive away from police, nearing hitting an officer in the process.

They say the car eventually stopped and the driver and a passenger got out and ran.

Police say they brought in the passenger for questioning, but are still searching for the driver.

So far, no arrests have been made.
