Lawrenceburg moves 200th birthday party, mural unveiling still set Sept. 11
LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ – Lawrenceburg is postponing its 200th birthday celebration, but a part of the celebration is going forward.
The Lawrenceburg Bicentennial Mural unveiling is set for noon Sept. 11 at 100 Main St. in Lawrenceburg.
Lawrenceburg was set to celebrate its 200th anniversary during a community-wide event originally planned for the weekend of Sept. 11-12. Coronavirus-related safety concerns prevented the bicentennial committee from gathering over the past several months to meet and plan the celebration, so it has been delayed until 2021.
As part of the bicentennial plans, the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Tourism Commission hired an artist to paint a mural to commemorate the town’s notable birthday and to tell a visual story of its history.
Plans for the mural’s unveiling have not changed.
The mural, painted on five individual panels, will be installed on a highly visible wall downtown to create a 10-foot-by-25-foot mural, all in time for the ribbon-cutting
