Laurel County firefighters look to contain wildfires

Laurell County, Ky. – Firefighters in Laurel County are grateful for the little bit of rain on Monday, but they are hoping for even more. People in this area are just glad the smoke from this past weekend’s wildfires is now gone.

The Laurel County fire department says no buildings have been destroyed and no one has been hurt because of wildfires.

Four to six acres burned in Laurel County, according to emergency management.

The Division of Forestry says there aren’t any counties with complete burn bans.  It is still illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of woods between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. during the Spring Fire Hazard Season, which goes until the end of April.
