Laurel County Sheriff’s Office: Felon with a firearm arrest

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – In Laurel County deputies say they were pulling someone over for not wearing a seat belt and discovered the man is a convicted felon with a gun, which is another felony.

Deputies say Willis Benway was wearing a handgun holstered to his hip when they pulled him over yesterday afternoon.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Joey Robinson along with Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Allen Turner arrested Willis Raymond Benway age 53 of Locust Grove Rd., Keavy on Friday afternoon September 13, 2019, at approximately 2:20 PM.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says the arrest occurred off Pine Top Road, approximately 4 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle complaint in Cloud subdivision off Pine top Road.

He’s being held in Laurel County Jail.
