Laurel Co. sheriff: Man arrested for assault; accused of holding victim against her will
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Laurel County sheriff says an arrest has been made on a man accused of physical assault.
The sheriff’s office says 41-year-old Freddy Humfleet was arrested at his aunt’s house after an altercation occurred starting Friday night continuing through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Deputies say Humfleet held the victim against her will not allowing her to leave the home. The victim was finally able to make contact with Laurel County 911 on Sunday night.
Sheriff’s deputies say the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries which included extreme bruising on her face and body including her eyes, cheeks, upper lip, chest, legs, abdomen and back. In addition, detectives say they noticed bruising on her neck that looked like she had been choked with hands. Detectives say she also had knife wounds on her neck.
Officials arrested Humfleet and took him to the Laurel County Detention Center.
