Laurel Co. Man Charged After Scuffle with Officers Serving Warrant

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel County Sheriff says Deputies and Corbin Police Officers ended up arresting an unruly man who decided to fight law enforcement officials while they tried to serve a felony warrant.

According to the Sheriff, officers and deputies went to the home of 34-year-old Curtis Lewis on McClure Bridge Road to serve the warrant.  Lewis was found hiding in the bedroom, and began “kicking and swinging his arms” at law enforcement, according to an arrest report.

Lewis was taken into custody, but while being escorted to a police cruiser, deputies say he created a disturbance in the area.

Lewis was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and menacing.  Also, Lewis was charged on warrants of parole violation, theft by unlawful taking, persistent felony offender and more.  Additionally, Lewis had a pending charge for the attempted murder of a police officer from the Corbin Police Department.
