Laurel Co. man arrested after break-in, assaulting deputy

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel Co. Sheriff says one man has been arrested after he tried to break in to his landlord’s home.

The Sheriff says that it happened Sunday night just before 9:00 p.m. when deputies received a call about a break-in off of Campground Road.  When they arrived, Deputies say the landlord told them that 45-year-old William Myers had broken into his landlord’s house through the back door.  The landlord had a firearm and demanded Myers to leave, according to investigators.

Afterward, deputies found Myers at his home, and say that he began screaming and cursing at them, tried to slam the door on them, and kicked one deputy during a brief struggle.

Myers was arrested and charged with burglary, resisting arrest, assault, disorderly conduct, and menacing.

He was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
