Laurel Co. awarded over $500,000 for road widening, resurfacing
MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says $556,356 in discretionary funds have been awarded to the Laurel County Fiscal Court for a widening project on Lick Fork Road and resurfacing work on Marydale Brock Road, Rooks Branch Road and Radford Road.
Projects submitted to the Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for discretionary fund consideration were evaluated by the KYTC district staff to assess the condition of roads and determine the most critical needs based on factors such as safety, economic impact and traffic volumes.
The Laurel County Fiscal Court is responsible for administering the work, and KYTC will reimburse the county for the projects.
Widening work will address:
- Lick Fork Road (County Road 1122) from milepoint 1.16 to milepoint 2.272
Resurfacing work will address:
- Marydale Brock Road (County Road 1134) from milepoint 0.0 to milepoint 1.325
- Rooks Branch Road (County Road 1290) from milepoint 0.0 to milepoint 2.733
- Radford Road (County Road 1528) from milepoint 0.0 to milepoint 3.750
