Last Of 38 Defendants In Drug Case Sentenced

The last of 38 defendants to be sentenced in a prescription drug ring that operated in northern Kentucky and southern Ohio was sentenced to twelve and a half years in prison, according to federal prosecutors.

Nick Sandlin, 34, of Cincinnati, has to serve 85-percent of his 151-month prison sentence, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said the case involved 38 people who distributed some 80,000 prescription pills.

Court records indicated Sandlin admitted to conspiring to distribute oxycodone and organizing trips to pain clinics in Florida, where several co-defendants obtained oxycodone prescriptions.

Prosecutors said the entire investigation resulted in forfeiture of five motor vehicles, 25 firearms, 12 pieces of real estate and approximately $110,000 in currency.
