Last-minute traffic tips for UK game day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-For those of you who haven’t headed out yet right after you read this report is the time because as expected traffic is pretty bogged down everywhere near the stadium. But here’s some helpful tips to help make the drive a little less stressful.

To avoid a parking headache make sure to checkout the suggested routes on UK’s website. They’re all slightly different depending on which color parking permit you have.

Make sure before you head out the door to put that parking permit up on your mirror so you don’t have to rush to find it while you’re approaching the parking structure.

There is also noon permit parking on Cooper Drive at a first come first serve basis, as well as parking structures 2, 3, and 6.

For those not planning on driving themselves, Lex-Tran will be operating the UK Football Express Campus and Downtown Shuttle routes for the season.

Those using ride-sharing apps like Lyft or Uber this year there are specifically zoned pickup and drop off points on sports center drive near the Woodland Glen Dorms to help streamline traffic.

And for those of you planning to skip the game all together but still have downtown plans tonight this year UK has partnered with the mobile app WAZE. You can actually be a traffic spotter or “wazer” on it and it will take you around the traffic with step by step directions to your destination.
