Last day for Campbellsville Fire Dept. to contest fine

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Today marks the deadline for the City of Campbellsville Fire Department to contest a fine over last year’s deadly ice bucket challenge.

State regulators fined the fire department $25,000 dollars for improper training and equipment following the incident.  A bucket ladder moved too close to power lines as it dumped water on the Campbellsville University band on August 1st.  Four firefighters were shocked in the incident, including Captain Tony Grider who died weeks later in the hospital.

According to the state, firefighters were not wearing protective helmets, and the department allowed untrained people too close to the power line.
