LASC offers special opportunity for families on Eclipse Day
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- With some schools being canceled Monday, August 21st Eclipse Day, The Living Arts & Science Center (LASC) will be offering something special.
The LASC will open it’s planned Eclipse Celebration to the public from noon until 4 PM that Monday.
Those who attend can expect activities for the whole family.
Activities include drawing the sun’s corona, making shadow puppets and sundials, solar oven demonstrations, making pinhole viewers, and the “Experience the 2017 Eclipse Across America” live feed from NASA in the planetarium.
The event is free to the public and the first 300 visitors will get eclipse glasses.
If you wish to bring a small group for educational purposes, you are asked to make a reservation by calling the LASC at 859-252-5222.
Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
On Saturday, August 26th, there will be a Post-Eclipse party during the LASC’s monthly Discovery Saturday event.
Discovery Saturday takes place every 4th Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM.
There will be hands-on activities, planetarium showers, and workshops.
Admission for Discovery Saturday is $4.00, which includes eclipse activities and planetarium shows.
Additional workshops range from $8.00 to $10.00 per person.
Eclipse glasses are also available for purchase in the gift shop at the Living Arts & Science Center.
The Living Arts & Science Center is located at 362 North Martin Luther King Blvd.
Schedule of Events for Eclipse Day, August 21st, Noon – 4PM:
Noon – 4:00PM: Visitors can rotate through learning centers at their own pace.
