Largest Move In Day For U.K. Dorms

More than 2,500 new Wildcat freshmen moved in to U.K.’s dorms Friday, according the university’s public relations department.

They also said more than 500 volunteers, made up of U.K. staff, faculty and students greeted the growing Solid Blue community.

Some students said they were nostalgic to be leaving home but were looking forward to the college experience.

President Eli Capilouto greeted the new students and their families Friday with his wife.

"I want every family to feel their children are now our children. We’re gonna’ take care of them," said Capilouto.

Officials also said 18 student organizations helped move the new students into the dorms.

Traffic was rerouted and had delays up to 10 to 20 minutes in some places around the university.

Saturday is the final day for dorm move in.  It’s for upperclassmen and others who could not move in before.
