KY House Republican Files Bill To Let Convicted Felons Vote

The General Assembly will have another chance to restore voting rights for some felons.

Republican Floor Leader Jeff Hoover announced that he had prefiled a bill that would be considered next January.

The proposed legislation would give convicted felons their right to vote back at the end of their sentence, parole or probation.

But there would be some exceptions.
Under the proposed bill, anyone convicted of treason, intentional murder or a sex crime would not be eligible to have their voting rights restored.
