KY 451 area in Perry County to experience closures during road repairs

JACKSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Drivers will need to find an alternate route later this week and early next week if taking KY 451 between Yerkes and Krypton in Perry County.

The closure will be in place Friday, Aug. 13 and Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 16 and 17 to repair a break in pavement. If the work is not finished by Tuesday, the closure could extend to Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Road work will be conducted at milepoint 12.47, between Forked Mouth Branch and Laurel Mountain roads. It will start at 8 a.m. each day, stop in the afternoons to allow school traffic to pass through the work zone, and restart and continue until the early evening. Through traffic will not be allowed as the work continues. The narrow road and width of the drilling equipment will make the highway impassable.

Additionally, KY 2021, or Big Willard Road, will be closed at milepoint 2.95 on Thursday, Aug. 12 for break repairs. This area is around a half-mile from the KY 451 intersection at Busy. The repairs will last from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
