KSU football player killed in California shooting
FRANKFORT, Ky. (KABC/WTVQ) – Kentucky State University is reporting that 24-year-old Thorobred football player Josh Williams was killed in a shooting in Inglewood, California on Tuesday.
According to KSU’s website, Williams played in the 2014-2015 season.
Affiliate KABC reports that the shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. Police say when they arrived, they found Williams with a single gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It was unclear what led to the shooting, but neighbors in the area said they heard several shots and people running away from the scene.
“KSU Athletics is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its own,” said Director of Athletics William Head. “Another senseless act of violence silences a potential voice of leadership. In All Things Excellence. Thorobred down.”
