KSP: Troopers involved in fatal Knott County shooting

FISTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Knott County man was shot and killed Thursday evening after a confrontation with officers.

Kentucky State Police say the troopers responded to a complaint about an intoxicated man who was fighting with several people at a home on Jenny Holland Drive in Fisty.

Officers with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife also responded to the scene.

Troopers say, while they were headed to the scene, they were told the man had a gun and had fired several times outside of the home.

When they got there, they say 36-year-old Timothy Brandon Stacy was standing outside and became combative. He then went inside.

Troopers say after several attempts to get him to come out unarmed, Stacy came out with a gun.

They say he refused to drop the gun, made threats then raised the gun toward officers.

They fired on him.

Stacy was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say troopers Josh Huff and Charlie Moore, and detective Chris Collins have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in a shooting incident involving an officer.
