KSP: Trooper shoots at suspect during pursuit

CLAY CITY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State Police say a Trooper shot at a suspect who tried to hit his cruiser during a pursuit Monday in Powell County.

Investigators say a Trooper spotted a stolen car on Winchester Road in Clay City. They say he tried to pull the driver over on Virden Ridge Road, but that the driver refused to stop and a brief pursuit ensued.

State Police say the driver turned onto West Lone Oak Road and made a U-turn, and tried to hit the Trooper’s cruiser.  Investigators say that’s when the Trooper shot at the suspect’s vehicle.

KSP says the suspect eventually crashed on Virden Ridge Road, got out of the car and ran to Sky View Lane.  State Police say several tips from the public led them to the suspect, who was arrested and taken to the Powell County Detention Center.

Investigators identified the suspect as Michael Osborne.  They say he was charged with Murder of a Police Officer (Attempted), Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (On Foot), two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Persistent Felony Offender l.
