KSP: Son who shot mother charged with attempted murder
CATTLETTSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Boyd County man accused of shooting his mother on Tuesday is facing attempted murder charges.
The Boyd County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a domestic disturbance at a home on Barbeque Road around 10:52 a.m.
State Police say when a deputy arrived at the home, 26-year-old Casey Watkins shot his mother, 50-year Tammy Watkins, in the abdomen then fired a round at the deputy.
Authorities say the deputy returned fire, but Watkins ran from the home.
More officers were arriving at the scene when Watkins was seen running from the woods to a nearby home.
State Police say, as the officers approached Watkins, he started firing on them and they returned fire.
No one was hit and Watkins was taken into custody.
