KSP: Knox phone scammer asks for jury duty fines
(BARBOURVILLE, Ky.) –State police are warning the Knox County community about a reported phone scam.
They say people are getting calls from a man who claims he’s a deputy with the sheriff’s office.
State police say the caller is telling people they’ve missed grand jury duty, and now must pay a fine. Troopers say he then asks for money to be paid electronically, or with a credit card over the phone.
State police says it’s a scam. They say you should never give out personal information or credit card numbers over the phone. Anyone with questions about grand jury duty should contact the Knox County Circuit Clerks Office.
