UPDATE: Inmate who walked off in Jackson County caught in Bell

UPDATE POSTED 2 P.M. TUESDAY, JULY 13, 2021

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Bell County Sheriff’s deputies picked up escaped inmate Don Eric Johnson at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to WRIL Radio.  He was charged with Escape 2nd Degree and taken to the Bell County Detention Center, according to Kentucky State Police.

MCKEE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State and local investigators are looking for an inmate who walked away from the Jackson County Detention Center in McKee.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Don Eric Johnson, 37-years-old Don Eric Johnson, of Middlesboro, walked away from work release at the Jackson County Detention Center, in McKee, on July 9, 2021.

He is described as being a white male, 5’9″ tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Johnson was serving a sentence for Receiving Stolen Property Under $10,000 and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine).

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Trooper Brandon Scalf.
