KSP: One Dead After Pike Co. Wreck

KIMPER, Ky. (WTVQ) – One person is dead after a collision on KY Route 194E in the Kimper community of Pike County.

Troopers say the wreck happened early Tuesday morning, when 24-year-old Jerry Leedy was driving west, lost control of his pickup and crossed into the eastbound lane where he collided with an NJL Trucking commercial vehicle.

Leedy and his passenger were taken to Pikeville Medical Center, and then flown to UK Medical Center, where Leedy was pronounced dead.

Investigators say it appears that Leedy was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.  They also say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

No word on the condition of Leedy’s passenger, or the driver of the NJL Trucking vehicle.
