KSP Looking for 2 After Escape at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center
PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police are looking for two men who escaped from the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in the early morning hours of Monday, November 1.
A report from the facility says that 25-year-old Justin Arnett and 31-year-old Melvin Garland got out through a service door in the ceiling of their cell, and worked their way through air conditioning ducts, leaving by the roof.
Based on surveillance video, officials estimate they escaped around 1:30 a.m., according to the report.
Arnett was being held on an indictment warrant for public intoxication and drug possession, among other charges. Garland was sentenced back on October 24th to ten years for burglary, criminal mischief, and theft.
Arnett is described as being 5′ 7″ tall and 145 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Garland is described as standing 6’ 0’’ tall and weighing 175 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes.
